Edo Crisis Continues As Court Restrains APC From Conducting Primaries
The power tussle in the Edo state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken a different turn as a Federal High Court in Benin City, Edo State on Monday, June 8 granted an order restraining the party and its national chairman, Adams Oshiomole from conducting any primary election in Edo State.

The order was granted ahead of the governorship election holding in September, pending the determination of the lawsuit on June 11, 2020.

Six aspirants drawn from two camps are in the race for the Edo APC governorship ticket. Five of the aspirants, including a former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Osagie Ize-Iyamu, who recently defected from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to APC, and a former Deputy Governor of the state, Dr. Pius Odubu belong to the faction of the party which is loyal to APC National Chairman Mr. Adams Oshiomhole and also seeking to unseat Governor Godwin Obaseki, who is seeking a second term in office.

Governor Obaseki on the other hand, is the sole aspirant from his faction of the party.

Credentials of Governor Godwin Obaseki and the five other aspirants who have bought, completed and submitted the party’s expression of interest and nomination forms have been displayed at both the National Secretariat of the party in Abuja and the Edo State chapter office in Benin.
