Vandals involved in breaking pipelines to steal petroleum have caused a great havoc in Abule Egba today, Mightyceeblog learnt.

The fire started from Santos, Awori in Abule Egba, behind the demolished biggs restaurant, Oko-Oba and stopped spreading when it got to the big gutter in front of abattoir.

The widespread of the fire might also be due to the fact that we're already in the harmattan period where things get highly flammable, apart from the fact that petroleum itself is very highly flammable

As at the time of filing this report, there is still tension at the point of the fire as it is still burning, although the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA are already there and doing their best to put out the fire.

The incident occurred around 1:30 am this morning, Mightyceeblog learnt and many cars parked along the road have been burnt beyond recognition by the fire.

A car dealer lost all his cars to the fire and even the famous Justrite was partially burnt.

Houses and stores also got burnt beyond recognition, but the churches; a gospel church and a celestial church around the area did not get burnt.

A shop owner in Abule Egba lamented bitterly as her whole goods have been burnt in the fire, she had just obtained a loan from Lift Above Poverty Organisation, LAPO Microfinance bank in which she used to stock up her shop, Mightyceeblog learnt.

And after the fire, she is left with nothing as all of her goods have been reduced to nothing; she sells drinks like Coke, Pepsi, Bottle Water and many more.

According to an eye witness who pleaded to remain anonymous, the fire was caused by vandals who broke the pipeline because they wanted to steal petroleum.

They dug a hole and were reportedly going in through a container to illegally obtain petrol before the fire took over.

A similar incidence occured in the same place 12 years ago, Mightyceeblog learnt.
