Over 100 Indigenes of Ekim in Mkpat Enin Local Government, Akwa Ibom Gets Free Cash and Gifts Worth Over Millions of Naira

10th of October, 2018 will remain evergreen for the people of Ekim in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

On that day, more than 100 indigenes of the area, smiled home with cash and gift items worth millions of Naira, courtesy of their illustrious daughter and Special Assistant to the Governor on Protocol, Mrs Linda Akpanakpudo Okwaraigwe.
Among the items were 50 pieces of wrappers donated to widows, three generators with three clippers, six hair dressing and vulcanizing equipment.
Among the beneficiaries is a youth activist, Daniel Udoh, and Mrs Ekaete Udoma, who described the empowerment as the first of its kind.
The empowerment programme also attracted admiration from an APC chieftain and Secretary of Ekim Village Council, Chief Oscar Obong.
He said though he is a member of the opposition party, he was moved by the peaceful disposition of Governor Udom Emmanuel, which has put an end to kidnappings and politically motivated killings which were the order of the day during the last administration.
Chief Obong condemned the gruesome murder of the 2015 PDP House of Assembly aspirant, Dr. Joseph Akpanakpudo, saying that party differences aside, he cannot vote for those whom he accused were responsible for the murder of his brother.
The immediate past Chairman of Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, Lady Ekaete Usip, described Governor Emmanuel as a God-fearing leader, and wished other government appointees could emulate Mrs. Akpanakpudo, by going back to their communities to empower their people.
The donor, Mrs Linda Akpanakpudo, a graduate of Microbiology from the University of Calabar and a Master's Degree in Environmental Management from the University of Uyo, said the empowerment programme was to put smiles on the faces of his people, whom she described as her family.
Mrs Akpanakpudo, who is the widow of the slain medical expert, said the programme was in line with the vision of her husband, who aspired to represent the people of Mkpat Enin State Constituency to improve their living standard.
She congratulated the beneficiaries, saying that the empowerment will be a continuous process.
The Governor's Aide said she was impressed with the leadership qualities of her boss, Governor Udom Emmanuel and his wife, Martha, which has brought about peace and development to the State.
