World Cup: Sagio Ramos Caught Telling De' Gea To Dive The Wrong Way

What Sergio Ramos told David de Gea seconds before Cristiano Ronaldo's penalty

David de Gea proved he is human after all with his performance in Spain’s dramatic 3-3 draw with Portugal.

The Manchester United goalkeeper, starting his first ever World Cup match, conceded in only the 4th minute as Cristiano Ronaldo fired home an early penalty.

De Gea’s nerves then showed in the 44th-minute as he spilled a tame long-range effort from Ronaldo into his own net. Nacho looked to have spared De Gea’s blushes as he scored an outstanding goal in the 58th minute but Ronaldo popped up at the death with an outrageous free-kick to equalise.

While De Gea was completely at fault for Ronaldo’s second goal, it appears Sergio Ramos should take some of the blame for Portugal’s opener. The Real Madrid defender gestured for De Gea dive to his right and he followed – only for Ronaldo to opt for the opposite corner.

David De Gea came up to Cristiano with a dominant walk to try and put him under some pressure, Cristiano then smiles at him causing De Gea to lose eye contact. Ramos tries to help De Gea by telling him in which direction Cristiano would shoot but then we all know what happened next
New Spain head coach Fernando Hierro defended De Gea after his mistake in Sochi. ‘We’re not going to point the finger of blame at anyone,’ Hierro said. ‘Of course, there are moments when things don’t go as well but we know what we want, and what we are asking our players and everyone is to see us as a team.

‘We don’t have any doubts about De Gea and he doesn’t have any doubts about himself either. ‘I gave him a long embrace, we know that being a goalkeeper requires special psychology and is a difficult position to play in. ‘He has had lots of good days. We are a family, we are a team, and we stick together.’
