FORMER ARSENAL STRIKER, NWANKWO KANU ROBBED IN MOSCOW, RUSSIA

Former Arsenal striker and Nigeria Ex-International, Nwankwo Kanu has been robbed in Moscow in the build-up to the 2018 World Cup.

The retired Super Eagles player was robbed at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport while on his way to Kaliningrad.

Papilo as many calls him, took part in a FIFA Legends match on Sunday in Kaliningrad, one of 11 Russian cities to host the World Cup.

Moscow Times reports that Russia’s Interior Ministry said two baggage handlers were detained after Kanu discovered that his $11,000 was missing upon receiving his bags and checking in at a hotel in Kaliningrad.

“Two handlers who unloaded baggage from the London-to-Moscow flight and stole the money from the passenger’s luggage have been identified and detained,” the ministry said in an online statement.

The Interior Ministry later confirmed the former Arsenal striker’s identity to the state-run TASS and RIA news agencies.
